Whole-Home Shutters in Tradition, Port St. Lucie

Client Requirements
One home, several window proportions
This Tradition home in Port St. Lucie needed a coordinated shutter installation across openings with very different proportions. The project included a compact bathroom window beside a vanity mirror, tall narrow openings, paired bedroom windows, a utility room and garage windows. The owners wanted the whole home completed as one project rather than choosing separate treatments room by room.
The design challenge was consistency without making every opening look identical. A shutter that looks balanced on a wide bedroom window can look heavy on a small bathroom opening. Narrow windows also leave less room for the frame and panel components. The owners were concerned that these differences would produce a mismatched result.
The brief for the installation
- Keep the frame style, finish and louver design consistent throughout the home.
- Fit each opening individually, including the smaller utility and bathroom windows.
- Make the bedroom pairs and tall narrow windows part of the same overall design.
The project photographs show the bathroom window beside its mirror and matching tall narrow window shutters. They provide specific examples of the different proportions involved in this Tradition installation.
What We Did?
A consistent finish, with each panel fitted individually
We used one flat frame profile, one finish and one louver size across the home. Within that consistent design, we custom-proportioned the panels, stiles and rails for each opening. This allowed the small utility window and the wider bedroom windows to share a visual relationship while retaining proportions suited to their own size.
The shutters were milled and finished in our Palm City shop and installed by our own team. For this project, the connection between individual measurement and manufacturing mattered: the frame profile stayed consistent, while the panels were built for the actual openings rather than selected as a set of standard sizes.
What to look for in the project photos
Compare the frame around the compact bathroom window with the frames around the taller windows. The shared finish and louver design tie the rooms together. The difference in panel proportions illustrates why a whole-home installation needs both a common design brief and separate measurements for each opening.
Planning a similar whole-home project in Tradition
Start with a list of rooms and openings, including windows that are easy to overlook in a utility room or garage. Discuss the overall finish and frame style first, then consider how that design will work on the smallest and largest windows. Ask how the panels will open, where furniture may affect access and which rooms need independent light or privacy control. These are planning considerations for your project, rather than additional specifications claimed for this installation.
Review the smallest openings alongside the largest
For a coordinated home, a room-by-room list is useful, but a window-by-window review is more precise. Note windows beside mirrors, cabinets or built-in furniture, as well as the wider openings that dominate a bedroom. These nearby features can affect where a panel opens and how much room is available around the frame. Bring those details into the measurement discussion before choosing the final layout. A consistent appearance does not require every panel to have the same dimensions. It requires the finish and frame decisions to work together while each opening receives the proportions and access it needs.
