Bathroom Plantation Shutters in Sewall's Point Homes

Client Requirements
These photos show AP Shutters installations in Sewall's Point bathrooms. In each one, a freestanding tub sits under or beside the window, so the shutters have to give full privacy at bath time and still let in daylight and, in waterfront homes, the view.
Primary baths in Sewall's Point are often the most finished rooms in the house: paneled walls, marble, decorative casing and tall windows facing the river. The shutters had to fit that level of detail.
- Give privacy at the tub without blocking daylight
- Keep the river view when the louvers are open
- Fit inside decorative casing and paneled walls
- Cover two windows that meet at a corner
- Plan for bathroom humidity
What We Did?
Privacy at the tub, view when you want it
In the waterfront bathroom, two tall windows meet at a corner above the tub. Each received its own two-panel shutter. With the louvers open, the room looks out over the water and the docks; with the louvers closed, the tub is private. Because the panels are hinged, the glass can still be opened and cleaned.
Shutters that fit the trim
In the paneled primary bath, the window behind the freestanding tub has a deep decorative casing. The two-panel shutter sits inside the casing, so the trim and wall panels stay in view. In the marble tub alcove and in the bath with corner windows over the tub, the shutters are framed the same way, inside the window trim.

Corner windows
When two windows meet at a corner, the panels need room to swing without hitting each other. We plan the hinge side for each window so both shutters open fully, and we keep the louvers at the same height so the two windows line up across the corner.

Bathrooms and humidity
A window beside a tub is a different location from a window inside a shower. Tub windows that do not get direct spray can take painted shutters; the bathroom fan matters, and so does drying splashes. A window that gets direct shower spray needs a material made for wet locations; for those, AP Shutters also offers poly/PVC shutters. Each bathroom window is reviewed at the measure.
Planning notes for Sewall's Point bathrooms
- Tell us which windows are near a tub and which are inside a shower.
- Check the casing and wall paneling. Shutters can usually sit inside the trim.
- On corner windows, decide which side each panel should open to.
- For river views, ask about louver size. Larger louvers leave more open view between them.
Questions Sewall's Point homeowners ask
Can plantation shutters go behind a bathtub? Yes, when the window does not get direct water spray. Inside a shower, we recommend a wet-location shutter.
Will shutters block my river view? Not when the louvers are open. Tilted open, they leave the view clear, as in the waterfront photo.
Can bathroom shutters match the rest of the house? Yes. Louver size, frame and white finish can match the other rooms, even when a shower window uses a wet-location material.
Do you work in Sewall's Point? Yes. We build the shutters in our Palm City shop and measure and install them in Sewall's Point ourselves.
