New-Construction Shutters in PGA Verano, Port St. Lucie

Client Requirements
One coordinated installation before move-in
This new PGA Verano home in Port St. Lucie included a wide range of openings: corner window pairs, wide bedroom windows, narrow windows, a stair-landing window, garage windows and horizontal glass inside the showers. The owners wanted one company to coordinate the installation before move-in.
Their design concern was consistency. Choosing each opening separately could have produced a patchwork of finishes and treatments. At the same time, the different locations and proportions meant the job could not be treated as a collection of identical windows.
The homeowner's brief
- Measure the varied openings individually.
- Keep the finish, frame style and louver design consistent throughout the home.
- Coordinate the installation with the builder's schedule.
- Include secondary spaces such as the garage and stair landing in the overall plan.
The project's main photograph shows the wide bedroom-window installation. The shower openings belong to a different application from dry living-space windows. For your own home, review water exposure and product suitability separately when planning these areas.
What We Did?
Individual measurements with a shared design
We measured every opening individually and coordinated custom plantation shutters across the home. The finish, frame style and louver size were kept consistent from the entry through the stair landing. The real-wood shutters were manufactured in our Palm City shop and the installation was handled by our crew on the builder's schedule.
The key design decision was to establish a shared appearance while still fitting the different openings. Corner pairs, narrow windows and wide bedroom openings each needed their own measurements. Including them in one project made the relationship between the rooms part of the brief from the beginning.
Wet-area openings need their own specification
A shower opening should be evaluated for direct water exposure and the suitability of the particular product. AP Shutters has a dedicated Poly/PVC shower-shutter offering. For a new project, discuss that application separately from real-wood shutters in the home's conditioned living spaces. Review the intended use and the written product specification before selecting shutters for a wet area.
Planning shutters for a new PGA Verano home
Prepare a complete opening list before making selections. Include the stair landing, garage and other spaces that might be missed when attention is focused on bedrooms and the main living area. Confirm when the openings can be measured, when the builder expects access for installation and which details still depend on the finished room.
Then review the frame, finish and louver choices as a whole-home design. Ask how those choices will be adapted to different proportions and which wet-area products require separate specifications. The objective is an informed schedule and a coordinated appearance, with suitable products for each location.
Bring the window schedule into the design conversation
For a new home, it helps to compare the window schedule with the rooms as they are actually being furnished. Openings that look similar on a plan may have different nearby cabinetry, furniture or access needs. Record those differences during the measurement visit and discuss them alongside the finish. Review door openings separately from fixed windows, and review any shower or splash-exposed opening separately from a dry bedroom or living room. This gives the manufacturer a clearer brief for each location. It also helps you compare proposals by their fit and room suitability, rather than treating every opening as the same product decision.
