French Door Shutters for a Jupiter, FL Patio

Client Requirements
This Jupiter homeowner had just finished renovating the patio, and the French doors leading out to it were the last thing left. They wanted the doors to be the focal point of the room rather than a gap in the wall, which ruled out blinds hanging off the glass and curtains bunched to either side. The real requirement was harder than it sounds: the doors still had to open and close normally, the handles had to clear, and the treatment had to give privacy and shade without anyone taking it down first.
What We Did?
We built custom white wood shutters mounted so the French doors still swing and the panels close independently of them. The doors can stand open to the patio with the shutters closed, which is the whole point: air and daylight come through the louvers while the room keeps its privacy, and nothing has to be unhooked or pushed aside first. Cutouts around the door handles keep the panels flush and let the hardware clear. To finish it, we carried the same shutters onto the windows flanking the doors, so the whole wall reads as one framed opening rather than a door with two mismatched windows beside it. Built and installed by our own crew from our Palm City shop.
